Choccy Box
// Les Mills alternative · For station-based & HIIT formats

The platform layer Les Mills doesn't ship.

Les Mills licenses choreographed instructor-led programmes. Choccy Box is the platform for delivering station-based, interval, and HIIT classes — formats Les Mills doesn't cover. They coexist for some gyms; for others, Choccy Box plus your own programming replaces multiple Les Mills licences entirely.

// The trend

Why operators are leaving Les Mills in 2026.

  • Per-programme licensing costs accumulate across multiple Les Mills classes on the schedule.
  • Quarterly music releases mean instructors learn new choreography on a rolling basis — high coordination overhead.
  • Choreographed programmes don’t cover HIIT, station-based, or competition formats well.
  • Instructor certification costs scale with team size, not value to members.
  • Independent gyms differentiating on hybrid/HIIT formats need infrastructure, not more licensed content.

Les Mills vs Choccy Box.

Les Mills International bundles a franchise relationship with the operational tooling. Choccy Box only ships the operational layer — and lets you own everything around it.

Choccy Box vs Les Mills International — side-by-side comparison

What Choccy Box gives you in return.

  • Station-based class delivery

    Multi-screen Apple TV display, independent station timers, audio cues for transitions. The format Les Mills doesn’t cover.

  • Interval & HIIT formats

    Phase-based timing engine handles work/rest/transition cues automatically. Build any interval structure you can describe; Choccy Box runs it.

  • Competition mode

    Heats, teams, judge web UI, live leaderboards. Run Throwdowns, end-of-quarter benchmarks, intramural events without spreadsheets.

  • Multi-location consistency

    Push schedules from HQ to every location. Each Edge unit runs offline at its venue. The class is identical across sites.

  • Programming flexibility

    Source from anywhere or design in-house. Mix and match across class types and time slots.

  • No content licensing fees

    Per-location platform cost. The cost doesn’t scale with how many class formats you run.

// Migration path

From Les Mills to live in weeks, not months.

01

Decide which classes Choccy Box covers

Most gyms keep some Les Mills slots and use Choccy Box for HIIT / station / competition formats. Map your weekly schedule to identify the candidates.

02

Edge unit installs at the studios you’re using

One Edge unit per location, Apple TVs at each station zone. Doesn’t affect your existing Les Mills setup if you’re keeping it.

03

Build the new class catalogue

Design station-based or HIIT formats in Command Center. Use existing block templates as starting points or build fresh.

04

Train trainers on the iOS remote

A coaching session and a few dry runs. The remote is intentionally simple — most coaches are running classes confidently after one session.

05

Go live with the new format

Slot the new Choccy Box-powered classes into the schedule alongside (or replacing) selected Les Mills slots.

// Les Mills migration FAQ

Common
questions.

Is Choccy Box a Les Mills replacement?
Mostly no — it's a different category. Les Mills licences choreographed programmes (BodyPump, BodyCombat) plus the music and instructor certifications. Choccy Box is platform infrastructure for delivering any class. They solve different problems and many gyms use both: Les Mills for instructor-led aerobic/strength formats, Choccy Box for station-based, HIIT, and interval classes.
When does Choccy Box make more sense than another Les Mills programme?
When you're adding a station-based or interval class type that doesn't fit the choreographed-instructor model — HIIT, functional fitness, hybrid, competition-style. Choccy Box gives you the orchestration layer to deliver those professionally without licensing more programmes you don't need.
Can I deliver Les Mills programmes through Choccy Box?
Choccy Box doesn't display licensed Les Mills choreography or play licensed Les Mills music — those rights stay with Les Mills International. But Choccy Box can run alongside Les Mills classes (different time slots, different screens), and instructors can use the iOS app for personal class timing within a Les Mills class if it helps them.
We're a Les Mills gym thinking of dropping the licence — what do we lose?
You lose the right to use the Les Mills programme names and the licensed music tracks. Your instructors keep their certifications (those don't expire on licence drop) but can't legally teach the programmes commercially without a licensed venue. Most gyms that drop Les Mills replace those slots with hybrid HIIT, station-based, or branded in-house formats — which is where Choccy Box shines.
What does Choccy Box cost compared to Les Mills licensing?
Different shapes, hard to compare directly. Les Mills cost scales with the number of programmes you licence and the number of instructors you certify. Choccy Box is per location, regardless of how many class formats you run on it. For a gym dropping multiple Les Mills programmes, Choccy Box plus replacement programming is typically less than the prior bundle.
Can Choccy Box run on the screens we already have?
If your existing screens take an HDMI input from an Apple TV (any current-gen), yes. The Edge unit handles the orchestration; Apple TVs handle the display. Most LCD TVs already in gym studios work fine.
